XI NATIONAL INTERCLUB COUPLES TOURNAMENT
Fun and excitement were felt during the three days of the XI National Interclub Couples Tournament held by the Mexican Women’s Golf Association at the Mayan Resorts Golf Acapulco course.
From September 26 to 28, 102 women’s couples from different golf clubs throughout Mexico competed for the title of each of four categories.
With the support of the team of professionals and assistants headed by Ian Moore, Manager of the Mayan Resorts Golf Acapulco course, the tournament went smoothly and a good time was had by all the participants.
The tournament got off to a start with an unusual opening ceremony, in which the players paraded and saluted the flag accompanied by the Guerrero State Marine Band. Alma Rosa Lepe, President of the Mexican Women’s Golf Association, and Ernesto Rodriguez Escalona, Tourism Minister for the State of Guerrero, spoke a few words.
It was a low-ball, 54-hole game with an 80% handicap. During the three days of play, the course was reserved exclusively for the tournament and at each hole, the players were identified by their distinctive club uniforms.
At the end of the tournament, everyone who played over the three days felt that it had been the best Interclub Couples Tournament yet. During the awards dinner, Alma Rosa Lepe’s efforts as President of the Association were applauded.
Trophies were awarded to the three first-place winners in each category, and stays at Mayan Resorts plus golf articles to the best o’yeses.
